BTEC in Performing Arts (DRAMA)
What Will I Study?
If you choose to study Drama as an option, you will work towards the BTEC First Certificate which is equivalent to two GCSEs Grade A* - C. This course covers a variety of aspects of drama and the performing arts.
The mandatory unit is ‘Acting Skills and Techniques’ (vocal skills; movement skills; interpretation and development of character)
Other Units (of which each candidate must complete two) are:

Working in the Performing Arts Industry (exploring different roles)

Devising Plays (developing your own drama using a range of techniques from taught stimulus materials)

Performing Scripted Plays (a range of scripted plays will be considered; interpreting roles, rehearsing, performing)

Developing Physical Theatre Performance (includes working with half and full masks; mime and movement; dance; puppetry)

How Will I Be Assessed?
The qualification is gained through coursework units assessed by your teacher. Your assessment is largely based on your practical work and performances. This is supported by your research/ diary/ blog/ and/or video diary as additional evidence of your development.
