BTEC Sport
What Will I Study?

If you choose to study Sport as an option, you will work towards the BTEC First Diploma, which is equivalent to 4 GCSE’s Grade A* - C. You will also study this course in your core PE lessons if you choose this option, you will have 3 theory lessons and 1 practical lesson per week. This course covers a variety of aspects of Sport and Sports Performance.
All candidates must gain 60 credits, and the Units include:

Fitness & Fitness Testing (5 credits)

Anatomy & Physiology (5 credits)

Planning and Leading Sports Activities (10 credits)

Instructing Exercise and Fitness (10 credits)

Planning & running a sporting event (10 credits)
How Will I Be Assessed?
Diploma is a 60-credit and 360-guided-learning-hour (GLH) qualification. Each unit has a number of assignments and scenarios to complete which will be both internally and externally assessed by the examination board. Pupils will assessed throughout the course in a variety of ways e.g. creating PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, posters, role plays, leading activities, planning group activities and testing individuals fitness to name a few. It is not assessed by examination.
