GCSE Design and Technology
What Will I Study?

All students will be required to study an aspect of this broad curriculum area throughout Key Stage 4.

Students will be able to pursue their natural strengths and interests by selecting one of the following full GCSE courses:-

Design and Technology: Resistant Materials (Workshop)

Design and Technology: Food
-
Systems and Control (Electronic and Mechanical Shapes)

Design and Technology - Textiles
-
To do well you need to:

Identify opportunities for developing design ideas
-
Research and analyse problem situations
-
Develop and record ideas on paper and in 3D modelling
-
Investigate and combine materials, components and or ingredients to produce a desired outcome with precision.
How Will I Be Assessed?
-
Students will be required to produce for assessment a single design and make project which includes a practical solution to a problem (40%) and a supporting design folder (20%).

Terminal Exmination 40%

The examination will test aspects of designing and making as follows:-
