CPSHE (Citizenship, Personal, Social and Health Education)
What Will I Study?

This programme is followed by all pupils in the school for 1 hour per week. The thread of citizenship, which runs throughout the programme, looks at national issues within, for instance, politics, the police and the courts, racism, and the role of a parent. Health Education which is also part of each year’s programme, addresses first aid and personal safety, smoking, alcohol, sex education and drug education. The other core aspect is Careers education. This is described in more detail on the next page.
How Will I Be Assessed?

All the classwork and homework completed during the course will be collated and form the body of evidence that will lead to an ASDAN accreditation in Personal and Social Development, equivalent to 1 GCSE.
What Can It Lead To?

All pupils will have had the opportunity to look at different future learning pathways, and to talk to people about these.
In this way, pupils will move on, having made informed decisions about their future. -
Pupils who are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to become successful employees/employers of the future.

Pupils who will be prepared to manage social, emotional and economic challenges in the future.

Work Related Learning & Enterprise
What Will I Study?

Self Awareness – to enable all pupils to recognise their skills, attitudes and qualities. This can then be used to enable them to identify additional skills that may need to be developed.

Occupational Awareness – to enable pupils to make informed decisions regarding possible future careers. This will include Labour Market Information to look at trends in employment.

Enterprise events – these will help pupils to develop an awareness of what enterprise is, and the skills involved in being successful.

Work Experience – all pupils will have the opportunity to undertake two weeks work experience in either Year 10 or Year 11.

Pupils will be able to meet with post 16 providers (local colleges and apprenticeship providers) to discuss possible future pathways. This will be done in conjunction with Connexions.

Financial capability will be enhanced by working with Nat West and pfeg (Personal Finance Education Group).
How Will I Be Assessed?

All pupils in year 11 will take the Preparation for Working Life qualification.

All pupils will follow a web based careers and guidance package called Fast Tomato. This has the facility for teachers to check the progress of pupils throughout.

All pupils will have an individual careers interview with Connexions personal advisers.

All enterprise days have a pupil evaluation for completion at the end of the event.

Employers will complete a record of achievement at the end of the work experience.

All pupils will complete a C.V., a letter of application and interview preparation research which will form the coursework element of the qualification (20 hours).

A final exam will take place at the end of the course.
