GCSE Religious Studies
What Will I Study?
This is a full GCSE course and is taken by all pupils. You will study for the AQA examination. During the course you will:
consider some of the big issues of life to which there are no easy answers. For example ‘does God exist?’ and ‘why is there so much suffering in the world?’
-
consider issues relating to life after death.
-
consider issues such as relationships, war and prejudice.
-
study some of the basic principles of Christianity.
-
listen to a range of ideas and put forward your own ideas.
How Will I Be Assessed?
-
Assessment is by one final examination covering all of the work taught in years 9, 10 and 11.
-
There is one level of examination entry.
-
You will find that many of the topics covered in Religious Studies link to work done in other areas of the curriculum such as work in CPSHE, in History, Geography and in English.
What Can It Lead To?
-
The level of your GCSE pass is of interest to most employers and educational institutions because it shows that you can consider a range of different ideas.
-
Careers where a good GCSE pass would be relevant include: teaching, jobs in banks and building societies, most technical and scientific jobs, engineering, medicine, dentistry, nursing, jobs in management as well as many office and shop jobs.
