ATKIN GETS SEASON OFF TO GREAT START
Healing-based athlete Sam Atkin had a super run in a 3,000 metre track race at Stretford, Manchester.
In an open event at the Trafford Grand Prix, the 16 year old started off his outdoor season with a big personal best of eight minutes, 36.15 seconds.
His run, against some quality opposition, was enough for ninth overall.
Atkin, the former Clee AC athlete who now runs for Lincoln Wellington, also completed in the men’s Senior Northern League at Doncaster. He won the 5,000m A race in 15.36.4.
Although this a track pb, Atkin clocked 15.17 on the road in Cleethorpes’ 5K series earlier this year.
