Pupils dig deep to create new garden
Youngsters at Great Coates Village Nursery School are enjoying the delights of a revamped secret garden - thanks to a helpful group of Healing School students.
Frances Smith, 15, Katie Barker, 15, Charlotte Bray, 15 and Emma Soulby, 16, joined forces for this year's Humberside Police Lifestyle competition.
The girls worked throughout the summer holidays arranging cake stalls, a garden party and sweet stall to raise cash to revamp the garden.
Emma, who lives in Great Coates, said: "We thought it would be nice for the kids and we also donated some of the money to When You Wish Upon A Star to send poorly children to Lapland.
"I think the garden looks fantastic now and it's a lot more interactive."
The team painted colourful pictures on the garden fence, planted new blooms and created decorations to hang from the trees to educate and entertain the children.
