Secondary Schools Quiz Challenge 2009

Healing School was very well represented at this successful annual event, hosted by Hereford Technology School. We entered two teams into the event. Our Under 13 team consisted of Louise Armitage and James Dierking Year 7 and, Molly Patterson and William Sellers Year 8.
Gemma Wesley and Patrick Tompkins (Year 9) and, Ellie Deighton and Neil Redding (Year 10), competed in the Under 15 team.

The two teams competed against the other secondary schools in N.E. Lincolnshire, answering questions on Recent News, Science and Maths, Sport, Books and Media, Music and Humanities. In addition they had to identify some famous faces and places in the two picture rounds.

The team work and competitiveness of our students was great to see. The Under 13 team achieved 3rd place, being just two points behind the winners.

Under 13 Results:

1st Hereford 64pts
2nd St James 63pts
3rd Healing 62pts

The under 15 team were extremely strong from the outset but had to work hard to fight off the strong competition from Tollbar. The final positions were as follows:

Under 15 Results:

1st Healing 70pts
2nd Tollbar 69pts
3rd Oasis Wintringham 63pts

The “GDQL Secondary Schools Quiz Challenge Champions” perpetual trophy goes to the school with the highest combined score from the two age groups. It probably comes as no surprise from the results above, that Healing quite deservedly won the Trophy this year, with a massive score of 132pts. Tollbar (last year’s champions) came in 2nd with 123pts and St James with 119pts, were 3rd.

All our students were a credit to themselves, their teams and the school. Special mention must again go to Neil Redding who was the strength behind the Under 15 team, a similar if not stronger performance than we saw two years ago when he was a member of our under 13 team. What will we do next year without him?!!
