Aims and Objectives

To maximise each pupil’s ICT potential

To enable pupils to understand and use various software packages including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, web design and control.

To enter all pupils for GCSE ICT at the end of Year 11, via AQA Full Course or BTEC First Certificate/First Diploma.
Role within our Specialist Science College:

ICT plays a pivotal role by providing a range of lifeskills which can be applied across all curriculum areas into post 16 education and the workplace.
Key Stage 3

(i) Courses
Pupils follow an appropriate programme of study which builds on prior attainment at Key Stage 2. The Scheme of Work is well structured and written by the ICT Faculty, developing the new National Key Stage 3 Strategy teaching units.

Accommodation & Physical Resources
The ICT area enjoys 4 dedicated ICT rooms which have been totally refurbished in 2005-2006. All rooms are fitted with Interactive Whiteboards and Drywipe marker boards. All of these rooms house brand new suites of 30+ PCs for pupil use.
ICT is under the umbrella of the Mathematics and ICT Faculty.
There is a Faculty shared ICT drive – increasingly used to develop a bank of shared ICT resources within the Faculty.
ICT is supported across the school by a Network and Data Systems Manager and an ICT technician.

Summary
There has been a great deal of financial investment in recent years at Healing school by replacing, updating and enhancing ICT capability. All classrooms have Interactive Whiteboard Facilities. ICT as both a compulsory and option subject has increased in popularity. As a result, the ICT Faculty is expanding to meet these demands.
